Your Body, Mind & Spirit

What is yoga?

Yoga is a holistic system for healing and uplifting the mind, body and spirit. Originating in ancient India, the yogic system is comprised of many physical, mental, and spiritual techniques and teachings gained from the experimentation and meditation of countless yogis. Yoga continues to develop as practitioners gain new insights about the human condition and reorient the system to address modern challenges.

The most widely known yogic practice is "asana," postures and movements like downward facing dog and sun salutations. Other practices include, but aren't limited to, pranayama (breath/energy work), meditation, mantra (vibrational chanting), and karma (selfless action).

Why try yoga?

There are many different yogic practices for the body, mind, and soul, and all of them are a path to personal peace and freedom. The most useful practices depend on an individual's situation and personality.

We spend a lot of time seated as we work, travel, and relax, so for most people asana is an extremely useful practice because it heals the sedentary body and quiets the over-active mind. Pranayama and meditation are complementary practices to asana that regulate breath and thoughts to balance energy, foster clarity and positivity, and release us from dysfunctional breathing and thought patterns.

Whichever yogic practice you choose to pursue, you will experience improvements in your mental and bodily health, greater understanding of yourself and others, and increased access to a sense of wellbeing and fulfillment in life.

Friends that yog together stay together! Motivate yourself and your family, friends, partners, or colleagues by practicing yoga together. It is a truly wonderful experience to share and grow with others.

With one teacher, you split the cost of an individual session with a partner, and still benefit from personalized instruction. We create practices that are tailored to efficiently address the goals and unique bodies and learning styles of each individual in a pairs session.

With two teachers, you get all the benefits of a 1-on-1 session, but with the company of a friend. We can most efficiently combine asana cueing and modelling with observation and adjustment of your alignment, so that you can tap into healing benefits and insights that resonate particularly well with you.
