Tai Chi
Balance | Grounding | Meditation | Energy Flow
What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is a wonderful, meditative practice that works to powerfully build energy flow, balance, circulation, coordination, postural strength and mental peace and clarity. Tai Chi originated as an internal martial art in ancient China, based on Taoist philosophy and the principles of yin and yang (contrary forces in balance), and it is now widely practiced for its many health benefits. At Our Little Yogashala, you will learn the Yang Cheng Fu Long Form, a classic form that is practiced all over the world. My teacher, Sifu Ali Siadatan, is a third-generation student of master Yang Cheng Fu himself.

Why should I try Tai Chi?
Tai Chi builds your store of internal body energy (chi) and helps it flow smoothly throughout your body, dissolving blockages and amplifying vitality. Tai Chi is also great for calming and focusing your mind, toning your nervous system, and balancing your mood for greater clarity and peace in daily life. Many people choose Tai Chi because it is one of the best practices to improve balance, coordination, and joint health all in one, while relieving stress.
At Our Little Yogashala, we can include yoga, stretching, and rolling with fascia release balls to aid in your practice (either in session, or for you to do at home). This can increase your progress and enjoyment of Tai Chi by efficiently releasing tense or injured muscles and fascia and fixing muscle imbalances that hinder your posture and range of motion in your joints.
What is a session like?
At your own pace, you will learn Tai Chi postural principles, stances, the way to move, breathe and focus, and the moves of the Yang Style Long Form. Most classes, we will do a quick joint warm-up, practice a movement principle, then learn and practice the moves of the form, breaking them down into detail. You will learn to coordinate and harmonize your movement, breath, energy, and mind. If you have any injuries or stiffness you would like to address with yoga or fascia rolling, we can include that in the session or explain it for your home practice.

Sessions are available to individual, pairs, or small groups. As an individual, you have more attention on your own progress, but as a pair or small group, you can split the cost, have fun with friends and family and still receive personalized instruction.
